Skittles science

This term our inquiry is Lets Get experimenting, which means over the next few weeks we will be participating in various science experiments.

We are learning to make predictions, conduct an experiment, make observations and draw conclusions.

This week, we predicted what would happen if we put water on skittles.

Learning about halves and quarters

Today we made jam sandwiches for Maths 😃

Here are some photos of the children firstly making their sandwich, then cutting it in half and then into quarters.

We talked about how each piece has to be equal and how many pieces we get if we cut it in half or quarter.

Mothers day craft

Hoping all of our Mums had a relaxing and happy Mothers day. 😍

Road Safety with Constable Lorena

Constable Lorena came in to talk to us about being safe when crossing the road and walking along the footpath.

We talked about using a zebra crossing, looking both ways, listening, holding hands with a grown up and walking sensibly.

After spending some time in the classroom, we all went outside to practice.

Frog subtraction

Welcome back to Term 2, it was lovely to see all the children back with smiles on their faces and a positive attitude.

This week, some of the children have been working on subtraction and have been learning different ways to solve subtraction problems. On Friday, the whole class made frogs on a log to help us figure out subtraction problems to and with 5.

Look at the concentration on these faces as the children solved the problems.
